With the new Accord coming with a new engine line up, better auto (6 speed optional!!) and so much more overall improvements....why should I buy this?

They really can’t explain Acura right now. It used to be the best version of Honda’s lineup, but now it’s not different enough to justify the money needed to have two brands.

We’re probably going to get the full 306hp 2.0T in the TLX, or even an updated J-series. Either way, it seems Acura wants to make it sportier than its pleb cousin.

How else are you supposed to tell the people in your neighborhood that you are a reasonably successful accountant?
(Remember that whole “It’s that kind of feeling” ad campaign? Yeah, neither does anyone else. :P )

but even with a 306hp TLX...I don’t see a reason to buy it over an Accord. Being ‘sportier’ be damned, Acura doesn’t even offer a manual

Not confirmed but rumored detuned NSX motor coming to the TLX. This gen Honda is riding it out. Similar to the ILX which is still on the old 9th gen civic platform. That probably will get accord power train

You can still get the optional V6. Plus Super You Love It Handling All Wheel Drive Number One!.

Eagle was the same way, too. Nearly everything in their lineup could have been had at a Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth or Mitsubishi dealer, with the exception of the Eagle Wagon (continued production AMC Eagle for 1988) and the Medallion (which was badged as a Renault in 1987). That included Canada, which also had the Vista (rebadged Mirage and Chariot) and the 2000GTX (rebadged Galant).
With the exception of the GTO, G6 coupe and convertible, Solstice coupe, and G8, Pontiac was also the same way in it’s final decade, where the rest of the lineup was not much different to a comparable Chevrolet or Saturn.
And speaking of Saturn...started different, ended as rebadged Opels (Vue, Astra, and in part, Aura), GMCs (Outlook) or Pontiacs (Relay), and the Sky, which wasn’t much different than the Solstice.
The difference between those and Acura is that they’re not all simply rebadged Hondas (with the exception of the NSX (self explanatory) and RLX (rebadged Legend)). Oh, and those Jewel Eye LED headlights, which Hondas (other then the aforementioned Legend) don’t have.
Worth it? Maybe not, but it’s something.

It’s a fwd ecoboost Mustang imo, seems like a benefit would be four doors

The tsx is going to be a lackluster competition to Buicks and Lincoln’s until they can start producing better cars

Just popping in to say I want the new Accord with a 2.0T/6MT so hard. In the past I would’ve wanted a TL Type-S or TSX Special Edition but now I want the Honda. To the point it’s a year out but I’m already planning how I’m gonna explain trading in the Forester to my wife.

Turbo 4s that make around 300hp and both come in coupes, it’s the second coming of the Ford probe!

If you want AWD or a V6, or a Honda Accord that doesn’t look like a Chevy Impala with a robot face.

I have to see pricing for the 2.0 + 6 speed but yeah....I want it

Sh awd is quite special. If you lived in a northern climate and skied often it’d be a better choice. I have two friends with them and despite being a ford guy think they are very nice.

That’s always been my hang up with Acura, the cars just don’t stand out enough from the Honda siblings. Ownership experience would be the only real advantage to Acura (luxury cars tend to offer a different brand of post sales service) After 13 years of doing work for an Acura/Honda dealer I can honestly say that the quality difference between the two is negligible.
